Chawan (rice bowls)

My set of four chawan (Japanese rice bowls) circa 1964, when I was very young, also a gift from my grandma. They're original and very rare... probably because they break easily. I still remember my mom filling them with rice for my dinner. I used to watch AstroBoy cartoons on TV every afternoon after school. I must've been 7 or 8 years old. The cartoons were black and white... so was our TV set. In fact, nobody had color TV back then... AstroBoy was the most popular cartoon even though Gigantor and 8th Man were also on TV at around the same time. Still, AstroBoy ruled as number one... I think because he was the reincarnation of a real boy. Actually, his robot body had the heart of a real boy, beating inside his chest. The story of AstroBoy is one where love and humanity triumph over tragedy...
